Meet Our Coaches

Paul Wilson

I believe extraordinary achievements are possible for ordinary people. Every runner is unique, with different lifestyles, goals, and commitments. My approach focuses on balanced training that supports ambitions while maintaining harmony with family, work, and life.

With bespoke plans tailored to your priorities, I’ll help you maximise potential and use your time effectively. Together, we’ll turn your goals into achievements.

  • My journey as a runner began during my twenties, where running was part of my training as an amateur boxer. I participated in various fell races and road marathons, which laid the foundation for my passion for endurance sports. Later, I embraced Muay Thai boxing, competing internationally and proudly representing Scotland at the World Amateur Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, in 2004.

Over a decade ago, I discovered ultrarunning and fell in love with its unique challenges. Since then, I’ve completed over 70 ultramarathons and running challenges. My experiences span a wide range—from a 5K Vertical Kilometer race and demanding mountain runs to 100-mile track races, backyard ultras, and the grueling 268-mile Winter Spine Race.

In 2020 I became only the second person to run the Steve Parr round in the Lake District in under 48 hours (61 peaks, 116 miles 46’00ft ascent) and in 2022 I became only the third person to complete a Solo Unsupported Winter Bob Graham round.

In 2022, I represented England in the Four Nations Backyard Ultra Trophy, securing a win at the Lionsgate Backyard Ultra in Wales and achieving a 2nd-place “assist” finish in the English event. I was honoured to compete on the UK team in the World Team Championships that same year and served as team captain for England in the Four Nations event in 2023.

  • My introduction to running came after a run-in with cancer, from which I’m thankfully recovered. The treatment left me with a weakened immune system but a stronger determination than ever—a determination that eventually carried me around the Bob Graham Round, the highlight of my running career. Over the years I’ve raced, taken on personal challenges, and returned to competition both locally in the Lake District and internationally.

Recently, I took a leap of faith and left my Commercial and Office Manager role after 32 years of service to become a full time running coach.

I understand the challenge of fitting training into a busy life—and the importance of making it work in a realistic, sustainable way.

My coaching approach is built around balance: helping runners achieve their goals while keeping life in rhythm. My aim is to help others discover their own adventure, whether that’s preparing for an ultra, finding confidence on the trails, or weaving running into an already full schedule.

Ultimately, my life goal is simple: to inspire those who want to be inspired—encouraging them to get out there and make it happen.
